A fireplace surround
cast to fit your room.
Custom concrete surrounds and hearths, made in Chugiak.
A fireplace is usually the first thing people see when they walk into a room. We design and cast concrete surrounds and hearths to the measurements of your wall and firebox, so the finished piece reads as one clean, solid form instead of a patchwork of tile and trim. Every one is made to order in our Chugiak shop for homes across Anchorage, the Mat-Su Valley and beyond.
Cast to your measurements
Nothing is cut down from a standard slab. Each surround is cast to fit your wall, your firebox and your design. Most of our standard surrounds are cast seamless, with hollow returns, so they read as solid stone with no joints to hide.
Made for fire
Concrete is non-combustible, which makes it a natural material to wrap a firebox in. We confirm clearances and mounting for your specific fireplace before anything is cast.
Simpler to install
Surrounds are built as panels that mount to the wall, so most installs don't need a masonry footing. At about 11 pounds per square foot, they weigh about the same as natural stone or less.
How a project runs
- Tell us about your space. Send photos, rough dimensions and what kind of fireplace you have.
- Measure. We measure on site or make a template of the wall and firebox.
- Shop drawing and finish. You approve a drawing of the surround, and pick your color and texture from samples at our shop.
- Cast and seal. We cast and seal the panels by hand in Chugiak.
- Install. We install the surround and go over how to care for it.
Custom work is priced to your space. Common questions about care, cleaning and sealing are answered on our FAQ page.
